Dr. Charles Leh M.U. was formerly a zoologist and curator of natural history at the Sarawak Museum where he worked for 35 years since 1982 and was also the scientific editor of Sarawak Museum Journal. He has conducted research since 1985 on the natural science of swiftlets in caves and farmhouses in Borneo and Southeast Asia, and published several books including A Guide to Birds’ Nest Caves and Birds’ Nests of Sarawak (1993). He pioneered the large scale commercial farming of swiftlets in Peninsula Malaysia by conducting farming courses since 1995. Over the years, he collected many samples of house and cave nests in his travels from the coast to the interior caves and these specimens are now currently displayed in the World of Birdnest Museum, Singapore. He had been the honorary curator of this unique museum since January 2018. Watch out for his new book releases on commercial swiftlet farming soon.
